ou are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love.” -Brené Brown
Have you ever felt like you do not belong, that you are gravely misunderstood? What about striving for perfection in all aspects of your life? Or constantly feeling like a stranger in your own body? Does any of this sound familiar to you? I can assure you that you are not alone in these struggles. We might try to put on a brave face for the world; however, cracks begin forming in our façade, and self-doubt creeps in and eats away at our sense of self. I am here to normalize these feelings and empower you to become the best version of yourself, whatever that might look like.
As a therapist, I am always working on my recovery journey to symbolize that it is okay not to be okay. Growing up in a larger body made life challenging. My healing journey began when I came to terms with my disordered eating habits and past trauma, which meant I always had one foot in the past; I could never fully be presentexploring my identity and presenting as my authentic self has allowed my self-confidence to soar. For so many years, I felt like a stranger in my own body, and now I can say I have a much healthier relationship with my mind, body, and spirit.
My approach to therapy involves an anti-oppressive, holistic, and trauma-informed lens. What does that even mean? Let me break it down for you. As an intersectional feminist, I believe it is crucial to view the world in many different ways and consider everyone’s voice, regardless of their age, race, gender, disabilities, et cetera. I come at therapy from a biopsychosocial approach, considering various biological, psychological, and social factors. I believe that therapy works best when collaboration is being used. Therefore, I will always check in with you and receive your input before making any changes or plans. You are the expert on your life and what works for you. Meditation and deep breathing might be a viable option, or we might need to do some deeper work to facilitate healing from unresolved trauma. We will find what works best for you.
If any of this resonates with you, I encourage you to reach out so we can collaborate on your journey of healing and self-discovery.
